Bangladesh and aChanging World

ConferenceInsights

The Bengal Delta Conference 2026 (BDC 2026), themed “Bangladesh and a Changing World: Uncharted Times, Emerging Orders, and the Politics of Care,” comes at a moment of transition for both Bangladesh and the global order. Following a popular uprising and subsequent elections, Bangladesh is entering a new phase marked by renewed prospects for political transition and governance. At the same time, the world is facing growing uncertainty shaped by geopolitical rivalry, conflict, economic volatility, environmental challenges, and the weakening of international norms. These shifts carry direct implications for Bangladesh. As an open and globally connected economy, it remains vulnerable to supply disruptions, energy dependence, financial instability, trade volatility, investment uncertainty, and changing geopolitical alignments. In this context, BDC 2026 will serve as a platform for dialogue, bringing together international scholars, government officials, policymakers, diplomats, development practitioners, business leaders, and civil society. Organized by the Dacca Institute of Research and Analytics (daira), the conference reflects its commitment to linking research with policy impact and convening high-level stakeholders. It will gather leading national and international voices to examine Bangladesh’s evolving realities and its role in a changing world.
