Dr. David Jackman

Dr. David Jackman is a Departmental Lecturer in Development Studies at the University of Oxford, specializing in the political economy of violence in South Asia. His doctoral ethnography in Dhaka explored political order through the lens of street-level leaders, criminal economies, and political mobilization, with his work published in journals such as Development and Change, Environment and Urbanization, and the European Journal of Development Research. Currently, he conducts research under the Effective States and Inclusive Development (ESID) Research Centre, focusing on the role of capital cities in authoritarian states and shifting political coalitions in Bangladesh. Dr. Jackman holds an MSc from the London School of Economics and a PhD from the University of Bath.
