Prof. Dr. Prabha Manuratne

Prof. Dr. Prabha Manuratne is a Professor in the Department of English at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, where she previously served as Head of Department (2019–2022). She holds a Ph.D. in English from the University at Buffalo, NY, supported by a funded teaching assistantship, with a dissertation on violence and resistance in world literature and cinema. She also earned an M.A. in English and a Certificate in Women’s Studies from Kansas State University as a Fulbright Fellow, and a B.A. (Honours) in English from the University of Kelaniya.Her teaching and research interests span literature, gender, cultural representation, critical theory, and cinema.Her work has been recognized with multiple Senate Awards, the Vice-Chancellor’s Award, and international fellowships including the Isabel S. Marcus International Research Fellowship and Riverrun Teaching Fellowship Prize.
