Dr. Sayeed Ferdous

Dr. Sayeed Ferdous is Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of Bangladesh Open University (BOU) and Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Jahangirnagar University. He holds a PhD in History from Lancaster University, UK, and has completed an MA in Social Science from the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. His research focuses on postcolonial historiography, memory, and the long-term effects of the 1947 Partition of Bengal. Dr. Ferdous has authored the book Partition as Border-Making: East Bengal, East Pakistan and Bangladesh (Routledge, 2022) and co-edited A Bangladesh Reader: Beyond Nation and State (forthcoming, Routledge, 2024). He has also held a visiting fellowship at the Institute for South Asia Studies, University of California, Berkeley.
