Dr. Bokhtiar Ahmed

Dr. Bokhtiar Ahmed is an anthropologist with a well pursued interest in social change and politics of marginalities. He has served remarkable academic roles in different capacities, both at home and abroad. His skills in teaching and social research are shaped by critical engagement with linguistic anthropology and ethnographic theories. Bokhtiar is also critically acclaimed for his research blogs, written as part of his efforts to infuse anthropological insights in public knowledge and policy discourse. He has been appointed the UNESCO Chair in Language Ecology in 2025. At present, he serves as the professor and dean, at the School of Liberal Arts and Social Science in Independent University Bangladesh (IUB).
