Faruk Wasif

t is a journalist, writer, and poet serving as the Director General of the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB). He was appointed to this position in September 2024 for a two-year term . Prior to this, he was the Planning Editor at the daily Samakal . Wasif has been an outspoken advocate for press freedom and accountability in journalism. He has emphasized the need for independent journalism to strengthen democracy and has criticized the decline of journalistic standards in the country.
