Parvez Karim Abbasi

Mr. Parvez Karim Abbasi is the Executive Director at the Centre for Governance Studies (CGS) and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at East West University, Dhaka. He holds an M.A. in Economics from York University, Canada, and a B.S. in Economics from North South University. His research focuses on geopolitics, geo-economics, political economy, and energy security, with emphasis on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Indo-Pacific Strategy (IPS). Abbasi has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, delivered lectures at national institutions including the National Defence College and NAPD, and presented papers at international conferences in China, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Turkey, and South Korea. He is a member of the Strategic Studies Network of the U.S. DoD’s NESA Center and contributes as a consultant to international organizations. Alongside academic writing, he is a regular op-ed contributor and television commentator on international relations, economic policy, and strategic affairs.
