Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar

Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar (born February 1946) is a Bangladeshi economist, civil society leader, and election expert, widely recognized for his advocacy of good governance and democratic reforms. He is the Vice President and Country Director of The Hunger Project in Bangladesh and the Founder-Secretary of Citizens for Good Governance (SHUJAN), a civic platform promoting accountability and electoral integrity. In 2024, following the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s regime, he was entrusted by the interim government to lead reforms of Bangladesh’s electoral system. Born in Comilla during the Bengal famine, Majumdar studied economics at the University of Dhaka before earning his PhD from Case Western Reserve University, USA. His career spans grassroots activism, policy reform, and international development, combining academic rigor with civic engagement. His memoir, Today I Saw a Revolution: From Grassroots to Global Change (2024), documents his lifelong struggle for democracy, citizen empowerment, and social justice in Bangladesh and beyond.
