Dr. Bulbul Siddiqi is an Associate Professor of Anthropology and Sociology at North South University (NSU) and has served as Director of the Confucius Institute since January 2020. He is a seasoned academic and development researcher specializing in sociology, anthropology, migration, and public health. He earned his Ph.D. in Anthropology from Cardiff University, UK, conducting an ethnographic study on the Tablighi Jamaat in the UK and Bangladesh. He also holds an M.A. in Global Citizenship, Identities and Human Rights from the University of Nottingham, and B.S.S. and M.S.S. degrees in Anthropology from Jahangirnagar University.
Dr. Siddiqi’s research focuses on migration and displacement, refugee issues including the Rohingya crisis, sociology of religion, public health, and human rights. He has held academic roles at BRAC University and Cardiff University and has published extensively on religious movements, humanitarian crises, and medical anthropology. He is affiliated with institutions such as the University of Warwick and NSU’s Center for Peace Studies, contributing significantly to both scholarship and policy discourse in Bangladesh.
